Did you know that all adults are mandated by law to report suspected child abuse? You may be wondering what that means exactly; according to the Texas Family Code (Ch 261), it is required that ANYONE “having cause to believe that a child’s physical, mental health or welfare has been or may be adversely affected by abuse or neglect” MUST report the case immediately. Failure to report child abuse is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days and/or a fine up to $2000.
